Flights London to Bengaluru: Heathrow Non-Stops, One-Stop Options and When to Book

Flights London to Bengaluru Heathrow Non-Stops One-Stop Options and When to Book

Heading home to Karnataka for Christmas, starting a new term, or joining a team in India’s tech capital? Here is how the London to Bengaluru route works, what it costs, and when to book.

Quick answer: how do I fly from London to Bengaluru?
Flights London to Bengaluru run non-stop from Heathrow with British Airways and Air India, taking about 10 to 11 hours. Return fares start from £276 per person (checked 7 October 2026, prices change daily). One-stop routes via the Gulf, or via Delhi or Mumbai, can cost less but add three to six hours. For the Christmas school holidays, around 18 December to 4 January, book now. Students and education staff can take a further £25 off with MannPass.

Non-stop or one-stop: which is right for your family?

Bengaluru is one of the easier Indian cities to reach from London. Two airlines fly non-stop from Heathrow. British Airways has flown the route for years and now runs two flights a day. Air India moved its London service from Gatwick to Heathrow in late 2024 and flies daily. That gives you three non-stop departures most days.

Non-stop is the simplest choice for families with young children, for grandparents, and for anyone on a short trip. You board at Heathrow in the evening and land at Kempegowda International the next day. No transfer, no second security queue, no bags to worry about at a hub.

One-stop routes are worth a look when the non-stop fares have climbed, or when you are flying from outside London. Gulf airlines connect through Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Air India also connects through Delhi and Mumbai, which suits families who want a few days in north India on the way. The trade-off is time: usually 13 to 16 hours door to door.

Flying from Manchester, Birmingham or Scotland

There are no non-stop flights to Bengaluru from outside London. If you live in the Midlands, the North or Scotland, you have two choices: a one-stop fare from Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh or Glasgow through a Gulf hub, with bags checked through to Bengaluru, or a train or short flight to Heathrow for the non-stop. For many families the one-stop from a local airport is less tiring than a 5 am drive down the M1. Mann Travel books departures from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow, so tell us where you are and we will compare both.

6 tips for booking flights London to Bengaluru

1. Book your Christmas dates now

English school Christmas holidays run from around 18 December to 4 January, though it varies by council, so check your school. Most families want to leave on the Friday or Saturday the schools break up and return the weekend before term starts. Those exact dates sell out first and cost the most. Early October is still a good window. By November you are choosing from what is left.

2. Shift by a day or two if you can

Flying out on a Tuesday or Wednesday, or coming back midweek after New Year, can make a real difference to the fare. Ask us to price two or three date pairs side by side.

3. Compare the non-stop with a one-stop honestly

Look at the total door-to-door time, not just the fare. A saving of £60 is less attractive if it means a four-hour wait at 2 am with a toddler. A daytime connection can be perfectly comfortable for teenagers and adults.

4. Travelling with grandparents? Book assistance when you book the ticket

Wheelchair help, special meals and seats near the aisle are easier to arrange at booking than at the airport. We do this as standard when you tell us who is travelling.

5. Students and education staff: use MannPass

Verified students and education staff in the UK can join MannPass. It takes £25 off selected return flights between the UK and India. A pass is valid for 30 days and can be renewed, and it cannot be combined with other offers. If you are flying back to Bengaluru for a new semester, or home to see family after exams, it is worth setting up before you book.

6. Keep the whole family on one booking

One booking keeps seats together and makes changes simpler if something comes up. Check the baggage allowance before you pack gifts, as it varies by airline and fare type.

Arriving in Bengaluru, and the best time to go

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) sits at Devanahalli, roughly 35 to 40 km north of the city centre. Terminal 2, which opened in 2023, is a calm, green building and a pleasant place to land after a long flight. Check which terminal your airline uses before you fly.

  • Getting into the city. Allow one to two hours by road at busy times. Prepaid airport taxis and app-based cabs run from outside arrivals, and BMTC’s Vayu Vajra airport buses serve many parts of the city at a low fare. The Namma Metro line to the airport is not yet open at the time of writing, so check for updates before you rely on it.
  • Weather. December to February is the nicest time of year, with cool mornings and warm, dry afternoons. Pack a light jumper for early starts and evenings.
  • Festivals. If your dates are flexible, Ugadi, the Kannada New Year, falls in March or April. Mysuru Dasara, about three hours from Bengaluru, is in September or October.
  • Hotels. Need a night in the city before heading on to Mysuru or Mangaluru? We can add a hotel to your booking.
