How to plan travel for the big family event, from first invitation to boarding pass.
Quick answer
Looking for flights to India for a wedding from UK airports? Start as soon as the date is fixed. Wedding season runs from November to February and prices can rise then, along with Christmas and New Year. Our homepage shows fares from £219 per person to Ahmedabad (checked 17 Oct 2026, prices change daily). Check passports and visas first. Then compare on our flights page or call 0208 099 9900.
Why wedding season is a busy time to fly
From November to February, many families across India hold weddings. Cousins, aunts, uncles and friends fly in from the UK. A lot of people want the same flights at once.
Our website FAQ says it plainly: prices can increase around school holidays, Diwali, Vaisakhi, Christmas, New Year and wedding season. We cannot promise any fare. What we can say is that waiting rarely helps when the dates are fixed.
If you have been invited, you are probably asking the same questions as everyone else. Which flight? Who is coming with me? How do we fit the suitcases in? Take it one step at a time. First fix the dates. Then fix the passengers. Then compare flights.
Fares to compare from London
These are the “from” fares on our homepage today. They are a starting point, not a quote.

A simple planning timeline
When | What to do |
As soon as you hear the date | Ask relatives which days you need to be there. Check passports. |
Next few days | Check your Indian visa needs. Compare flights and book. |
A few weeks before | Confirm names, bags, seats and any special meals. |
Final week | Print documents, check outfits fit in your bags, confirm pick-ups. |
Weddings often run over several days. Mehndi, sangeet and the main ceremony may fall on different dates. Ask the family which events you must attend before you choose your flights.
One more thing worth knowing. A wedding is not a trip to rush. If your work allows it, build in a spare day at each end. It is kinder on older relatives, and you will enjoy the celebrations more. If something changes, call us on 0208 099 9900 and we will talk it through.
Seven tips for wedding guests
- Book as soon as dates are fixed. Do not wait for the printed invitation if the family has told you the dates.
- Arrive a day early if you can. Late flights and tired travellers do not mix well with early ceremonies.
- Check baggage allowances. Wedding outfits and gifts take space. Ask us about extra bags when you book.
- Keep outfits and jewellery in your hand luggage where the airline allows it.
- Check your passport, and the visa steps on indianvisaonline.gov.in.
- Read the GOV.UK travel advice for India before you travel.
- Give one family member the job of collecting everyone’s passport details so the booking is correct first time.
Families, groups and the Christmas holidays
Many families combine a wedding with the Christmas school holidays. It makes sense. Children are off school, and relatives are together. It is also one of the busiest times of year, so plan early.
- Large parties. If ten cousins are flying, tell us. Our group and family specialists can look at the booking together.
- Different airports. Not everyone lives near London. We depart from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
- Children and elders. Seats together and a simple route matter more than a small saving.
- Staying on. If you want a break after the celebrations, see our hotels page for stays in places like Kerala, Shimla and Agra.
- Students. Mann Travel Offer gives verified students and education staff in the UK £25 off selected return flights between the UK and India.
Check each child’s passport on its own. A child’s passport can run out sooner than a parent’s, and that is easy to miss.
