Flights London to Goa: Via Mumbai, One-Stop via the Gulf, and Which Airport to Land At

Flights London to Goa Via Mumbai One-Stop via the Gulf and Which Airport to Land At

Beach first or family first? Here are the three ways to get from London to Goa, how long each takes, and which airport suits your plans.

Quick answer: how do I fly from London to Goa?
Three ways. Some airlines run non-stop London–Goa flights in the winter season, so check current winter schedules. Most families either fly London to Mumbai and take a short domestic hop, or fly one-stop through a Gulf hub that serves Goa. Allow 12 to 16 hours door to door on the connecting options. London–Mumbai fares start from £286 per person (checked 7 October 2026, prices change daily). London–Goa fares are quoted on request. Call us on 0208 099 9900.

Your three options for flights London to Goa

Goa is small, popular and a long way from Heathrow, so there is no single obvious route. Which one suits you depends on your dates, your budget and whether you have family in Mumbai to see on the way.

Option 1: Non-stop, if the season allows. A few carriers have run non-stop London–Goa flights in the winter months. Schedules change from year to year, so check current winter schedules before you plan around one. When they run, they are the simplest choice: board in London, step off in Goa around ten hours later.

Option 2: Via Mumbai with a short domestic hop. This is the route most of our Southall families take. London–Mumbai is a well-served non-stop route of around nine hours. Mumbai to Goa is about an hour in the air. It works especially well if you want to see relatives in Mumbai on the way.

Option 3: One-stop via a Gulf hub. Several Gulf airlines fly from London to their home hub and on to Goa on a single ticket. You change planes once, usually with a layover of two to four hours. Bags are checked through, and the whole journey is on one booking.

Dabolim or Manohar (Mopa): which airport should you land at?

Goa has two airports now, and this catches people out. Pick the wrong one and you add an hour or more to your taxi.

Dabolim (GOI) is the older airport, in the central-south of the state. It is the closer airport for the south Goa beaches, the quieter stretches families tend to prefer, and a sensible choice for Panaji.

Manohar International Airport at Mopa (GOX) is the newer airport in the far north. It is the closer airport for the north Goa beaches, the busier end with more restaurants and nightlife.

Not every airline serves both. Some international flights use Dabolim, some use Mopa, and domestic hops from Mumbai land at either. So book your hotel and your flight together and check which airport code is on your ticket. We do this for every Goa booking as a matter of routine.

5 tips for a smoother trip to Goa

1. Match the airport to the beach, before you book

Decide north or south first. Then choose the flight. The other way round is how people end up with a two-hour transfer they did not plan for.

2. If you connect in Mumbai, give yourself time

On a through ticket, the airline handles your bags and the connection. On two separate tickets, you clear immigration, collect your bags and check in again. Allow at least four hours. An overnight in Mumbai is often calmer, and suits families seeing relatives anyway.

3. Sort your visa early

British passport holders need an Indian visa or an OCI card. Apply through the official Indian visa website well before you fly. Every child needs their own.

4. Keep the domestic hop on the same booking where you can

If your London–Mumbai flight is delayed and the Goa hop is on a separate ticket, the second airline does not have to help. One booking, one set of rules.

5. Book the hotel at the same time

Goa hotels on manntravel.co.uk/hotels average from about £55 a night (checked 7 October 2026, rates change). Good beachside places fill fast in winter, so book flights and hotel together.

Arriving in Goa: taxis and getting to your hotel

Both airports have prepaid taxi counters in the arrivals hall. You pay a fixed fare at the desk and hand the slip to the driver. No haggling. App-based taxis exist but availability varies, so do not count on one at midnight with tired children. Many hotels arrange transfers, and we can add one to your booking. Carry some rupees in small notes for the first day.

Combining Goa with family in Mumbai

This is the trip we book most often for Goa. Fly London to Mumbai, spend a few days with relatives, hop to Goa for a beach week, then fly home from Mumbai or straight from Goa via the Gulf. Everyone gets the family time, and the children get the beach.

  • Book everyone together. Grandparents, parents and children on one booking keeps seats together and changes simpler.
  • Ask about open-jaw tickets. Into Mumbai, out of Goa (or the reverse) is often possible on one ticket and saves a backtrack.
  • Travelling with elderly parents? Ask us about wheelchair assistance and special meals when you book.
  • Check the latest advice. The UK government’s India travel advice page covers entry rules, health and safety.
